Absolutely! Banjo Mountain was built to take total beginners (meaning zero musical experience) into the joy of playing their first song in 30 days! We have seen this happen hundreds of times.

We see students of all ages succeed with as little as 15 minutes of practice a day. Your target goal should be 30 minutes, as you'll see faster growth and build greater momentum. Many of our students get closer to one hour a day as their excitement explodes from seeing their growth accelerate.

No! You don't need any musical experience at all. In the beginner's skills course, you will learn to read tablature (which is like a picture of the banjo neck). It's simple and easy, and will be invaluable to you. So get ready to learn banjo with zero musical experience!

While you can start with zero gear (you can jump into the community and start making connections as well as take some of the beginner lessons), you'll want to get a standard 5-string banjo. We recommend the Deering Goodtime (only because of the incredible build quality and value to price), but there are many great banjos out there. If you're going to learn bluegrass, you'll need to get some picks, and we tell you precisely what to get in the Beginner's Skills Course. 

You'll watch a welcome video where we lay out some priorities/tips. Then you'll head over to your Library of courses and have access to all Bluegrass and Clawhammer courses/lessons. You'll also, instantly, have access to the Banjo Mountain Community which is as valuable as the courses themselves.
